Govt Approves Program to Prepare 1 Million Freelancers in Pakistan

The Board of Directors of Ignite, National Technology Fund formerly named as National ICT R&D Fund, has given its approval over  ” DigiSkills” initiative to encourage 1 million young guns for promotion and development of technology, innovation, and work ethic, along with creation of new workplace for future supported by a 4th Industrial Revolution.

During a board meeting, this decision was made under the supervision of State Minister for IT and Telecom,  Mrs. Anusha Rehman. CEO Ignite,  Yusuf Hussain was also there during the discussion.

The State Minister stated that our educational institutes have been providing a large number of graduates every year.

Anusha Rehman proclaimed that more than 20,000 IT graduates and engineers are being produced every year and now, it is time for us to create and develop our workforce for new technologies and transform them into the fields of freelancing and entrepreneurship.

Moreover, Board was informed that  1st Cohort consisting of 21 startups of National Incubation Center Islamabad, started on March 20, 2017, has already graduated in August 2017. While two of them have been able to make their place in Top 10 startups of 4YFN Barcelona, Spain.

 National Incubation Center Islamabad has started its 2nd Cohort of 26 startups on September 15, 2017, which is expected to be completed somewhere in February 2018.

CEO Ignite, Yusuf Hussain notified Board that after scheduled deliberations and negotiations, LMKT & LUMS have signed an agreement for their particular  National Incubation Center at Peshawar and Lahore. In the meeting, Board also recommended the re-bidding of National Incubation Karachi, where the bidders have been pulled out of the plan.

In the meeting, Mr, Rizwan Bashir Khan, Federal secretary IT, Member Telecom Mudasar Hussain along with other respective members were present.
