The Infinix S2 smartphone designed classically with short edge style. The phone is for selfie addicts and those who prefer smaller phones in their hands. Infinix allowed the tagline to Infinix S2 which says “Selfie + Wefie”. The tagline explains that it is designed for selfies with its two front camera lens and it is the first ever Wefie smartphone.
Infinix S2 Pro Review World First Wefie Smart Phone
I have spent some quality time testing the Infinix S2 and I have indeed enjoyed my time with it, but that’s not to say that it has been a completely smooth ride, here’s my review of Infinix S2
The design is considered as the most important aspect of the smartphone. The Infinix S2 has a quite simple design with a smooth edge (off course not like the S6 or S7 edge). It has the dimensions of 147.3 x 71.5 x 8.2 mm and weight is only 147 grams.
There are capacitive navigation buttons displayed as small white colored dots similar to the Infinix Zero 4. Maybe some peoples don’t like the dots instead of icons like I do there should be either icons or backlit button which should display on touch or on pressing the power button.
There is also a black plastic frame around the display. It is black so you probably won’t notice but its plastic and even slightest drops dent on this frame. You should place the cover on its back at top and bottom with network reception these sections scratch easily. Infinix S2 Pro is available in topaz blue and quartz black some regions got the gold version.
Infinix S2 has 5.2 inches’ device with a supportive resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with 320 DPI.
It should be better if the company has provided 1080p display and 10-points in multi-touch test in Infinix S2 Pro instead it have 5 points touch.
The Infinix S2 Pro is powered by Mali-T720 GPU with graphics and games. I worked smoothly in every field and we have not observed any delays in delays.
Software and Performance
Infinix S2 pro runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. However, Infinix has released an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. Nothing much has changed yet, as XUI still runs on top of Nougat but you get the split screen, multitasking and better notification in nougat.
XUI is not that much but except the lack of proper app drawer. You can get access to all apps by swiping up from home screen, the bloatware that is the X family of apps i.e. XAccount, XCloud (to back up your contacts, messages, Wi-Fi passwords, call log and notes), XClub, XHide (hides selected apps from the app list), XManager, XPower (battery management), XShare (send and receive files between Infinix devices) and XTheme and the transparent UI that is very reminiscent of iOS.
It has 3GB RAM which enough for such phone, the apps launch impressively fast and refreshing automatically it has an MT6753 processor which does an amazing job running smoothly despite being quite dated.
The S2 Pro packs a 3000 mAh battery which might seem small but remember, it is only pushing 720P graphics on a 5.2-inch display. I have found my review unit lasts me well through the day, especially if I use WiFi as opposed to mobile data.
S2 Pro packs 3000 mAh battery which might seem small but it is pushing only 720p graphics on 5.2-inch display so it is pretty much. It would last longer than a day if you use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data. The device has fast-charging technology which helps you charge the phone on the go.
S2 Pro comes with 13 MegaPixel Auto Focus camera with dual-tone flash the images produced by the camera are eye catching. The dynamic range is impressive the color reproduction and details are well captured those who like Macro shots the bokeh effect is pretty impressive. Proformas mode surprisingly captures amazing snaps.
There are also a few tricks hidden within the camera app, such as a manual mode (for those who like more control), picture in picture mode and a beauty mode.
Camera Front (Selfie Camera):
Dual cameras on the front top bezel of Infinix S2 pro are the main feature of the phone. The S2 pro has two cameras 12MP standard selfie lens and much wider 135 degrees wide angle lens. the images from the 13MP lens are detailed but it is hard not to notice aggressive post processing going on. The 8Mp wide-angle lens capture more frame but suffer from barrel distortion.
S2 Pro has a reliable fingerprint reader (but it didn’t work very well like Huawei P9 or P10 but it is also to be noted it is a budget smartphone on another end those are the devices which cost thousands of rupees more than S2 Pro). Infinix should have considered a front-mounted reader to avoid smudges that will be coming to your lens with that reader being a bit low.
It is loud enough despite it being so small. My one problem with it is that it is recessed and as much as this might sound like nitpicking, it will collect some dirt. This should by no means discourage you from buying the S2 Pro, but you should be ready to clean the earpiece occasionally.
The display and sound
The 720p display is pretty impressive with color reproduction and brightness levels are satisfactory. The speaker, despite being down facing provide pretty loud sound and offer great music experience.
